People with disabilities often have difficulty performing activities of daily living (ADL) independently, or even with assistance. Assistive technology can mitigate the effects of disabilities that limit the ability to perform ADLs. Assistive technology promotes greater independence by enabling people to perform tasks they were previously unable to perform or had great difficulty performing, by making improvements or changing methods of interaction with the technology needed to accomplish these tasks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Assistive technology enables people to lead healthy, productive, independent and dignified lives, and to participate in education, the labor market and civic life.
